GET FREE STUFF: ZAGG Sparq giveaway
Do you know what product is awesome?
This. The ZAGG Sparq.
You know why this product is useful?
Because you love your electronic devices and the battery life on your electronic devices sucks.
Let me tell you a story. I was out and about on New Years Eve and I had recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a 4G LTE phone with battery endurance akin to a fat kid doing the mile run. I knew...

Ebert on why movie revenues are dropping
I just read a really interesting column from Roger Ebert (you remember him, from Siskel and Ebert back in the day? Movie critic for the Chicago Sun-Times?) about why movie revenue is dropping.
Now I love watching movies. I even hesitantly go to the theater quite a bit, but I hate the theater experience. I am constantly annoyed by other theater-goers who seem to have no common sense, common...

Power to the Customer! More evidence that...
Last night I posted some thoughts about the Ocean Marketing episode as an example of how bad customer service can effect your firm.
Closer to my Utah home, now, another story has come to my attention, and it involves the Snowbasin ski resort east of Ogden. Earlier this week, a young man was coming down the mountain (not sure if it was a skier or boarder) and he was told to stop by a ski...

Ocean Marketing: A gigantic customer service screw...
I’ve spent a bit of time today reading about the story of Ocean Marketing’s major customer service screw up. The full story, including e-mail transcripts, is posted at Penny Arcade but I’ll give you the tl;dr here:
A customer, named Dave, ordered a video game controller in early November. It was a pre-order, with the expectation that the controller would ship in early December....

If you’re looking for a place to start with your New Year’s Resolutions, here’s a great list.
48 organizations that are against SOPA
Congress has put out a list of 142 organizations/businesses that think SOPA is awesome. We should boycott them as much as possible. Well, here is a list of organizations that oppose SOPA. We should support them.
bitshare:
SOPA has attracted a lot of negativity recently, rightfully so of course. Most recently the 142 organizations that support SOPA which has sparked outrage and people...

Is 3D Just a Passing Trend? →
I HATE 3D movies. I literally can’t watch them. They give me headaches. 3D is a huge (and unfortunately successful) marketing gimmick that brings down the quality of the movie-going experience. I can only hope that 3D will die over time.

Want Google Wallet on your Verizon Galaxy Nexus?... →
I picked up the Galaxy Nexus from Verizon last week, and there are a lot of great features about the phone (also some bad) but one of the big headline features was that the phone is NFC (near field communications) enabled so that you could use a service like Google Wallet to make payments with your phone. There are a lot of people who think that the phone will replace the credit/debit card in the...

On tipping your waitress →
Every so often in Cache Valley, the issue of tipping becomes a hot topic in the Herald Journal’s letters to the editor. Someone will write in a letter, as in this case, saying “oh my daughter is a waitress and got stiffed on tips twice last week, humanity sucks!”
Listen. First of all, I think that people who say “servers aren’t entitled to a tip” need to stay...

First and foremost, I love your content. You’ve produced several of my favorite shows over the years, and the hits keep on coming. I’d love to watch Game of Thrones now, but I can’t. You see, the only way to get your service is to be a cable subscriber, and several months ago I cut the cord.

Pizza topping conspiracy
There are a lot of conspiracy theories out there about different things.
Aliens.
The assassination of JFK.
Fluoride in water.
Everything is up for debate. But there is a conspiracy that has been going under the radar and I just realized it tonight: The pizza topping conspiracy.
Think about this for a second. At all mainstream pizza places, there is a limited array of toppings that you can...

I hate sports.
The Utah State football game against Auburn today was one of the most excruciating sporting events I ever have been part of.
For 56 minutes of the game, I was certain Utah State was going to win. When the Aggies scored a TD to go up 10 points late in the 4th quarter, I let out a very loud “YESSSSSS!” while meandering through the KVNU studios, recording highlights of the game to be...
